Spring is near! The official start of spring is Sunday, March 20th. We lost an hour of sleep in exchange for longer days and the temperatures are slowly rising. With warmer weather approaching some of you may be looking to release some "winter weight". If that's you I'd like to offer a few suggestions to help get you started:

1. Water - Drinking water helps to eliminate toxins in the body and improves your skin tone.  You should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water per day. For example, if you weigh 120lbs need to drink 60oz of water each day.
2. Green Tea - Drinking brewed green tea (not the bottled Lipton etc.) has been known to burn fat and boost metabolism.
3. Don't eat 3 hours before going to bed. Eating a meal and then going to bed within a few hours slows your digestion and allows you to absorb more of the calories in the food you ate.
4. Calorie Counter App - People often ask me why I am watching calories when I wear a size 4/6. For me it's about health and making better choices. You would be amazed at the amount of calories/fat many of your favorite foods contain. The app I use is Calorie Counter by Fat Secret and it's FREE so there is no excuse not to have it.
5. Exercise - Get your body moving. Go for a walk, join a gym (several offer memberships for $10-$20 a month) or take a class. I highly recommend Zumba.

If you implement some or all of these suggestions I'm positive you'll have the body you desire in no time.
